DOG RESCUE CENTER SAMUI

Help us help!
Everybody who comes to Samui notices the dogs. If you like dogs, you're sad to see them suffer. If you don't like dogs, you're upset there are too many. Either way the dogs are a problem. Most dogs are stray dogs; they look after themselves, they have puppies and they have puppies and they will be strays without hope too. When they get sick or injured, they suffer endlessly until they slowly die!
Their numbers are constantly growing, because of uncontrolled breeding, and their suffering and misery reaches inhuman proportions.

For a holiday Samui is truly a paradise, for stray dogs it is a living hell!

A small group of animal loving Thais and foreigners have finally (after endless difficulties) succeeded in founding the DOG RESCUE CENTER SAMUI and bringing a qualified Thai veterinary surgeon to Samui. Since April 99, we even operate a small animal clinic.

The main targets of the DOG RESCUE CENTER SAMUI are:

  • to sterilize, castrate and tatoo stray dogs and cats
  • to vaccinate all dogs against rabies
  • to give medical treatment when needed
  • to educate the local population about responsible pet-ownership

The fixed monthly costs are:
one vet - 25,000 baht, 3 helpers - 6,000 baht each, rent for the clinic - 8,000 baht, electricity, water, telephone - approx - 6,000 baht, dog food approx - 12,000 baht, and of course a lot of medical costs.
Nearly all the costs are paid by donations from European donation members. Only 10% of the money is from hotels and shops on Koh Samui.

We have a lot of sick and injured dogs in our small clinic that we cannot take back to the beach, for example handicapped dogs or old and weak dogs or even puppies which were brought to the clinic overnight. These dogs need to stay for a long time, some of them their whole life. Therefore our next target is to build a dog shelter on Koh Samui. Please help us help to build the first dog shelter with your donation and ensure that the DRCS will run further.

With your help we can change the lives of these suffering creatures and prevent more unwanted pups to be born.

Below are three of many dogs that DRCS have help save.

We are always looking for volunteers who would like to help us for one or more days while here on holiday on Koh Samui. Please contact us at the Dog Rescue Center Samui by e-mail, phone or stop by at our clinic at any time.
